US Army Catholic Chaplain
CH (MAJ) Bernard Yebra

Pastor

Father Yebra is the eldest son of Felix and Emilia Yebra, and a brother to Christine, Fely, Susan, Don, and Jo.  He is a native of Libon, Albay, Philippines and a graduate of Holy Rosary Regional Seminary and Loyola School of Theology.  He was ordained in 1988 by Cardinal Jaime L. Sin of the Archdiocese of Manila.  He is a priest of the Dioceses of Charleston, SC serving the Archdiocese for the Military Service, USA as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps since 2007.  He was a Reserve Army Chaplain from 2007-2013.

Father Yebra has served as Formation House Director at the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Formation House in Naga City, Philippines.  He served the Archdiocese of Manila as a parish priest from 1990 to 2000. While serving the archdiocese, he also served as Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting Priest-Coordinator and Ecclesiastical District Vicar for two years.

In the Diocese of Charleston, SC, Father Yebra served for eleven years as parish administrator at Saint Peter’s Church in Cheraw, SC (2000-2005), Saint Philip Benizi Parish in Moncks Corner, SC (2005-2008) and Transfiguration Parish in Blythewood, SC (2008-2011).



As an Army Chaplain, he has served with 360th Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Brigade (Airborne), Fort Jackson, SC (2008-2013).  He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  In 2012, he was appointed as Vicar for Prison Ministry for the Diocese of Charleston. He served with 19th Engineer Battalion Rear Detachment, Fort Knox, KY (2013-2015), 19th Engineer Battalion (2015-2017), 84th Chemical Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO (2017-2019), 70th Brigade Support Battalion, Camp Casey, South Korea (2019-2020), and US Military Academy at West Point, NY (2020-2021).  


Father Yebra began serving USAG Benelux July 2021. He was recently promoted to the rank of Major in December 2021.
